how Edward Elric mom died

Edward Elric

The 2003 anime implies that she died from some kind of broken heart caused by Hohenhiem abandoning her.

But in Brotherhood and the manga Hohenhiem and Trisha make a promise to grow old together and Hohenheim leaves to find a way to become mortal again. While she was deeply saddened by Hohenheim’s departure she does not have much of a reason to give up on life in between the promise and her young sons. Her final message to Hohenhiem is an apology for dying without him. So in brotherhood she had no intention of dying.

I did a little digging for the common epidemics of 1904 both in Germany(and Europe) the country Amenstris is heavily based on and Hokkaido Arakawa-sensei’s home island. I focused on epidemics because I vaguely remember Trisha and Pinako recognizing the disease and almost knowing she would die. From 1890–1910 the most common epidemics were Influenza, Typhus, Cholera and Bubonic Plague with Consumption (tuberculosis/Pneunonia) being a high cause of death as well.

Trisha’s symptoms were mainly noted to be spaceyness (could be attributed to grief over Hohenhiem), fainting, and toward her death being bedridden. From the brothers witnessing her collapse it can be inferred that the onset was sudden. Given that no coughing is shown or mentioned that rules out Influenza and Consumption for the most part. While cholera would have a sudden onset the iconic fluid “water-like” diarrhea is not noted either and cholera is caused by infected water supply so Ed and Al likely would have gotten sick too. Bubonic plague is a possibility but was more common in urban areas especially those with ports which Amenstris has none of and the Elrics lived in the countryside.

The most likely culprit I can think of from a hour at the most researching this Epidemic Typhus. It’s also called Louse-born Typhus due to being spread by pests, a common occurrence in rural areas. While symptoms of headache, fever, chills and a rash are common for all typhus forms, Epidemic Typhus specific symptoms include high fever, confusion, stupor(out of touch with reality), rash on the back and chest, low blood pressure, and severe muscle pain.

This matches better than the previous contestants, The confusion/stupor/fever behavior is observed with Trisha frequently staring of into space and seeming distracted unless focused on them noted by the boys in her last years. Typhus rash is not nearly as striking as say the bubonic plague and would only spread to her face and extremities late in the infection if at all. Low blood pressure explains her fainting spell the the boys remember vividly and muscle pain and being a fall risk explains why she would have been bedridden in her last days.

I would say Epidemic Typhus is the most likely cause of death but Influenza and Consumption are also likely options infectious disease wise, but it could have been some sort of hereditary disease. In that case we would never find the answer. (I say consumption because given the time FMA is set consumption was the name given for tuberculosis and pneumonia associated diseases.)

Fullmetal Alchemist: Will Edward Elric ever be able to use alchemy again?

No, Edward Elric can never use alchemy again. And in my opinion, this is one of the all star WTF moments in anime.

Look, I get it. For literary reasons, it has to be Edward that makes the sacrifice. This is his story arc. He and Al began this journey together, they must end it together. At the start, when the transmutation all goes wrong, Ed says “give him back… I will give anything.“ It’s put up or shut up time.

The brothers begin their journey for a selfish reason - to get their bodies back. But along the way they grow, learn compassion, help countless individuals, and save the lives of all 50 million people in Amestris. That doesn’t earn you some credit somewhere?

And the solution is right there in front of them. Their father Hohenheim offers to make the sacrifice to return Al. He even points out, he is their father. It is his place to sacrifice for his children. Also, if he hadn’t left, he almost certainly could’ve saved their mother’s life. If he had even checked in from time to time, he possibly could have saved their mother, but if not, when he found them orphans, he definitely could’ve stopped them from performing the transmutation. Add to it he was dying anyway. He had enough energy left to save his son, or return home and die by his wife’s graveside. Seriously, is there really a choice here?

But...but... he would have used a philosopher’s stone! I hear you object. Ed and Al would never have gone along with that! Well, maybe. It’s made very clear throughout the story that Hohenheim knows every single soul that’s inside his philosopher’s stone and he never uses their power without their consent. There’s not a parent in there someplace who wouldn’t say “Yes, use me save your child?” And he might not even have needed to use it. Going to the Truth and saying “I yield my body and my soul to this place that my son‘s body and soul might return to the world” is an equivalent exchange. So... WTF???

But I get it. Literary reasons.

In which episode does Edward Elric get taller?

Ed getting taller in Fullmetal alchemist Episode 46. Why is Ed so short? ... The manga reveals that Ed and Al's minds are linked via the Gate of Truth, where Al's body is. This could be interpreted to mean that Ed's energy is being used to help keep Al bonded to his armor, leaving less of it for his own physical growth.

For those that wish to grow taller without pills, medications,. . Even you are over 30 years old, you should check this tutorial. I Have got good results with it. I am a recreational volleyball players and play sand or indoor courts. Hence being tall is quite important, even only a couple of inches can make the difference between lossing or winning... I began following this guide as a month ago and saw an increase in my height at least 3 inches.

Could Edward Elric beat Joseph Joestar?

Edward Elric

After losing his right arm and left leg due to a failed Human Transmutation attempt, Ed became the youngest State Alchemist in history by achieving his certification at age twelve.

His abilities include:

  • Alchemy: Alchemy is the ability to manipulate matter by rearranging the molecules into different shapes. It only works if the original object shares the same molecules as the product. Edward is a master of alchemy, and uses it to manipulate the environment to attack foes, trap people, and form weapons to fight with. Edward has also incorporated also alchemy styles into his own.
  • Destruction Alchemy: A form of alchemy that disassembles the target on a molecular level to bypass durability.
  • Strong Arm Alchemy: Punches an object to send it flying as a high-speed projectile by converting alchemical energy into kinetic energy.
  • Ultimate Shield: Rearranges the carbon in his metal limbs to harden them into a diamond-hard shield.
  • Automail: Edward's missing right arm and left leg were replaced with prosthetics called automail. Due to being made of metal, they're stronger than normal limbs, and are lightweight so they don't inhibit Edward. By using alchemy on his forearm plate, Edward likes to form a blade from his metal arm as a weapon.
  • Environmental Weapons: Edward will sometimes form weapons from the environment to fight with, preferably swords, spears, spikes, and cannons.

Joseph Joestar

Joseph is a natural-born Ripple user and eventual Stand User. An exuberant trickster, Joseph meets the fantastic threats approaching him throughout his life with initiative and impressive ingenuity, battling Vampires, the Pillar Men, and malevolent Stand users.

His abilities include:

  • Ripple: Joseph inherited the Ripple and its capabilities from his grandfather, Jonathan Joestar. After his Ripple training, Joseph frequently combines his Ripple with other objects to perform complex and creative attacks.
  • Stand: Joseph's Stand, Hermit Purple, manifests itself as a tangle of thorny vines, which Joseph can wield as both a weapon and a hazardous defence.
  • Acrobatics: Joseph is an exceptionally agile fighter, performing acrobatics on a regular basis. Being quite athletic, Joseph distinguishes himself through feats of agility.
  • Impressive Wit and Trickery: Joseph Joestar's mind is his deadliest and most valuable asset. Joseph's favorite strategy is to psych out his opponents. To do so, he notably predicts what his enemies will say next or more commonly provokes them to unnerve them and make them predictable in their move.

Verdict

This fight would be a close call. In areas where one excelled compared to the other, they each would have counters for each-other. Ultimately, this fight will come down to a few very important things.

Automail, being made of metal and using oil, is an ideal Hamon conductor. Edward requires the use of both his hands to perform alchemy. Joseph is incredibly proficient in analyzing the personalities of those he faces and guessing information about them by observing small details about them, then shamelessly exploits any character flaw they have in order to return whatever they will be doing next against them, most commonly their overconfidence. Therefore he would easily surmise that once he takes out Edward’s metal arm, he would have a much greater advantage since he would be unable to perform alchemy.

On top of that would be Edward’s temperament. As a tactician, Joseph wants his foes to come at him stupid. Edward’s temperament means he takes every remark towards his height is seen in his eyes as a personal insult, making him lose his temper. This would be another way Joseph would exploits his opponents character flaw, causing Edward to fight angry instead of fighting smart. Therefore, in my opinion, Joseph Joestar would be the victor.

Who would win in a fight, Naruto, Natsu, Luffy, Ichigo, Korra, Edward Elric, or Inuyasha?

I know enough about everyone on this list except for Inuyasha (I only watched a couple of episodes then stopped), so I’m not going to include him, but I’m certain he’s not going to be the winner or 2nd.

The first people to lose are definitely Edward Elric and Korra, there’s no question, their best feats are nothing compared to the rest. Korra has her avatar state and such, but she’s no Aang and even Aang would lose pretty hard.

Now the real competition is between Naruto, Natsu, Luffy, and Ichigo, basically the big four of the anime mainstream. I believe Natsu is among the first to lose since he is at most a small island level buster and his magic and dragon force not going to do much in the finale.

The next to lose is a hard one, but I’m 100% certain it isn’t Naruto. I believe it is Ichigo since Luffy now has Gear 4 and Kong Organ and probably has more tricks up his sleeve, in the fight against Doflamingo, with one Kong Gun, he destroyed the whole island with that one attack, I think Luffy has a bit more raw power and strength and Ichigo certainly doesn’t have the tenacity of Luffy’s level. However, Ichigo is more of a strategist and is definitely smarter than Luffy, but not smart enough to learn about Luffy and his weaknesses.

Ichigo is a shinigami, so he does all that soul type of things, but the rest of these guys are from completely different anime universes so we don’t know for certain if he can effect their souls in any way, the same goes for genjutsu since no one here has chakra, but Naruto doesn’t even use genjutsu. I think Dangai Ichigo would be enough to give Luffy a hard time, but not defeat him in Gear 4. He would be speed wise faster than Luffy, a faster than Gear 2nd. Luffy also can deal with powerful blade attacks (Zoro level or stronger) now with Armament Hardening Haki. Luffy has also dodged beams of light after the 2 year time skip, with his level of observation haki, he should be able to handle Ichigo’s true form as fast as he is.

The winner is Naruto, he is a confirmed planet buster, and although he is a little rusty now, he’s still ridiculously powerful.
