Top 10 swordsmen in one piece

This List Is Based On My Opinion

Number 1-Dracule Mihawk.

Mihawk is considered the strongest swordsman because first of all he specializes in SWORDs his skills are probably far superior to Shanks with a sword. Whereas Shanks uses swords as a side weapon and probably uses a hand to hand combat style we can tell this as he does not have a black sword. This proves to us that shanks does not specialize in sword techniques or attacks muchless and considering Shanks is foreshadows to have some of the best Haki in the verse then that only elevates this theory more that he isn’t a full on sword user. Example a swordsmans first instinct when defending himself is to use his sword to counter / parry / block but a hand to hand fighters instinct is to use a part of his body to do this as well or dodge.

Number 2- Ryuma

Ryuma was an old and famous swordsman from Wano. He and his sword Shusui were known for keeping raiding pirates out of the country.

This current arc is showing us that Wano doesn’t play around. They don’t give just any person such honor. If pre-timeskip Zoro could beat him, we’ll have to assume his strength was limited as he was a mere skeleton.

Number 3-Shanks

When it comes to skill with a sword, Shanks is quite impressive, as seen in Marineford where he blocked Akainu's attack quite easily. However, he still pales in comparison to Mihawk. Shanks likely has other skills as well, however, in terms of pure swordsmanship, Mihawk is indicated to be better than him.

Number 4 - Oden

Kozuki Oden was the daimyo of Kuri in Wano Country and the son of the former shogun Kozuki Sukiyaki, being a member of the Kozuki Family. He was the husband of Kozuki Toki and the father of Momonosuke and Hiyori. Additionally, he was the leader of a group of legendary and powerful samurai known as the Nine Red Scabbards, with all of them serving as his retainers and most trusted allies. Number 10-Gol D. Roger

Could Hawkeye Mihawk possibly defeat Kaido?

We really can’t say since we’ve never seen Mihawk’s full power, he crushes characters like East Blue Zoro but that’s not really impressive. He used to spar with Shanks but how far this ‘sparring’ went is unknown much less how much stronger/weaker he’s gotten. The only real hint we have of his true power is when he attacked Whitebeard and comments on how “far away’ Whitebeard is but whether he meant like metaphorically powerwise or literally distance, much less what he concluded is unknown as he basically just walked away afterwards.

We also know that Mihawk seems to really like duels, 1-v-1 shows of skill. Which makes it even harder to tell in cases like the War, as how much he actually cared or held back is unknown, it’s entirely possible(and in character) that every time he met strong characters in the War he held back so he had a chance to duel them later.

What is the introductory bounty of Dark King Rayleigh?

My estimation for Rayleigh’s bounty, is at least 3,500,000,000 berries high since he’s the Pirate King’s right hand man. He should probably be stronger than any Yonkos at his prime since he achieved many feats that are greater than what others have achieved. He’s currently the strongest right hand man in One Piece, but there are some characters who he couldn’t beat on his own.

Unknown to many, Silvers “Dark King” Rayleigh was a full-time swordsman before retiring from piracy. The sword he uses is a double-edged longsword that is fairly plain in shape. Could Zoro wield this sword?

He probably can. Just not with the same efficiency he would have with katana.

People can do this already in the real world. A katana and a longsword of comparable size aren’t THAT different. People tend to exaggerate the differences. Many techniques are interchangeable. Sure, there are differences, but nowhere near the difference between, say, a spear and a bow. Or a war hammer and a dagger.

How did Rayleigh get the title of the "Dark King"?

Rayleigh, The dark King.

Highlights,

He is a former Pirate with an active bounty. Teacher of luffy. Teaches him basic haki and is a skillful swordsman. He is fast and strong. THE RIGHT HAND OF THE PIRATE KING. (Just like zoro, and also has a cut on opposite eye.)

He is that powerful that Garp told marines not to follow Rayleigh when they encounter him. He is old, still managed to fight with Kizaru toe to toe. Imagine when how was used to be young and more powerful! He used kill kill sea monsters with bare hands, his raw strenght!

He is also a Powerful Haki user, he is experienced in fighting with stronger opponents. May be he has the Haki that can enhance in darkness. His experience and fighting style is sneaky and works better to control the haki from darkness. Shank’s haki can make other pirates faint and he can’t help that.

Dark king theory,

Highlights,

Remember the scene when Rayleigh came out from nowhere, and deflects the attack! SAVES THE DAY! He is old and still that fast. Even the Admiral said it’s unfair with this much Marines. The Dark King is here.( i can’t remember the actual words but the verse is pretty much like this.) keeping this all as a base. Adding her wife’s statement about his strength.

He is cursed, zoro showed us that cursed swords and powers exists. shadows and ghosts can be controlled. What if he is the king of darkness himself. Black beard can control darkness. We had the god of lightening, We had Asura. Maybe He is a lord of darkness himself. Demon lord, with a monster of darkness residing inside him. Unleashing his powers like kurama(classic anime reference ) can make one lose everything. Every memory, Happiness or even shadow.

Roger is lightness, Rayleigh is darkness. yes, it can be possible. He could’ve operated the crew during the absence of Roger. At last both were considered as the king. One of the Pirates and other of the darkness. Just like this every other crew member is entitled with a king honor.

He is Royal but eaten by Darkness. Yes, he was born as royal. Later left them in search of peace but got piece(see what i did there.) He accomplished many things and eventually marines named him as Dark King with bounty just like God Ussop! Isn’t it cool.

But offically, there is no mentioning in manga or By Yoda himself regarding dark king. He will surely reappear in future episodes.

Luffy will be going to become the king of pirates.

Thanks for reading upvote if you like my crazy theories. It really motivates users to write more or improve.

If Luffy is going to be a pirate king, doesn't he need a more powerful and intimidating power/fruit?

As it happens, a fan once asked the author Oda Eiichiro a very similar question. Here’s his response:

R: In the ONE PIECE of these days, all kinds of strong ability users whom even Luffy can't compete with have been appearing, one after the other. In general manga and anime, I feel that the protagonist is established to be the strongest of all, but why did you decide to turn Luffy into a pretty weak-looking rubber Devil Fruit user? P.N. Do your best Japan

O: Ahaha, that is true. It must seem like a mystery when you consider all the other strong and cool abilities. The answer is simple. I have picked the most ridiculous ability. If the protagonist were the typical strong guy, I doubt I could continue on with this for long. No matter how serious the story gets, Luffy is there to stretch and inflate. He always give me a chance to fool around. That's the kind of manga I wanted to write.[1]

My interpretation of this is that Oda gave Luffy a ridiculous and seemingly weak power like rubber as something of a self-imposed challenge to exercise his own imagination and creativity. If Luffy had a traditionally “cool” power like fire or lightning, there wouldn’t be a lot of opportunities to get creative with his powers, and Oda would’ve been liable to get bored. But since Luffy’s at a relative disadvantage with his weak-looking rubber powers, Oda has to exercise his brain to come up with ways for Luffy to win against his opponents, and Oda gets to enjoy himself by drawing silly, off-the-wall fight scenes.

Besides, there are quite a few characters that are top tier threats, despite not having any Devil Fruits. Luffy’s grandfather Monkey D. Garp is one of the strongest people in the story, is implied to be superior in strength to Sakuzuki — an Admiral with the ludicrously strong Magma-Magma Logia Type Devil Fruit —despite being past his prime, and was reputed to have cornered the previous Pirate King Gol D. Roger multiple times before his death. He has no Devil Fruit.

Silvers “Dark King” Rayleigh is the first mate and right hand of the King of Pirates and is about as old as Garp, yet can fight off Borsalino with ease, and was the one to train Luffy in the art of Haki. He has no Devil Fruit.

“Red Haired” Shanks is one of the Yonko or Four Emperors, the four most powerful and dangerous pirates in the world, a previous crewmember of the Pirate King, and the man who inspired Luffy to become a pirate in the first place. He has no Devil Fruit.

Long story short, you don’t need a flashy Devil Fruit to be a badass in the world of One Piece. Luffy’s perfectly fine with being made of rubber.

Does Luffy have any relation to Gol D. Roger?

Luffy and Gol D. Roger are related, in more ways than one. Luffy carries the will of Shanks in the form of the Straw Hat, he recieves from Shanks. Luffy decides to return it to Shanks once he turns into a great pirate.

In retrospective Shanks got this Straw Hat from the Pirate King Gol D.Roger and one could say Luffy is related to Roger in that manner. Also before leaving East Blue Shanks claims that Luffy used the same words as Gol D.Roger as in :

“I will make friends and form a pirate crew so strong, that will never lose to you”

Both Luffy and Roger are pirates who have been smiling when they were on the Execution stage in Loguetown. So well their personalities and character traits absolutely match up. We see later in the anime even the Dark King Rayleigh supports Luffy and tells him that he reminds him of Gol D.Roger.

Also in other terms Gol D.Roger is the godfather of LuffyAce who is the biological son of Gol D.Roger and Luffy son of Monkey D.Dragon exchange cups of sake and turn into brothers for life.

Middle Name - D :

Lastly we know both Luffy and Roger share the middle name “D” which is linked to the “Will of D” and hasn’t been revealed yet and is supposedly the theory that places them as prophesied enemy of the gods (Celestial Dragons) back from the void 100 years in the history from 800 years ago, that is another in-direct relation they have.

Whatever may be the case Monkey D.Luffy will become the Pirate King and so has Gol D.Roger and that is their true relation.
