Itachi Uchiha

When we first met Itachi, he was portrayed as a heartless murderer- a madman, who slaughtered his family for fun.

We were made to fear him, not only for his skill and immense talent, but for his heartlessness.

He was a soulless villain. One loathed and feared by all.

He lived to be hated- because he simply wanted to. He was truly, veritably, evil.

Then, after all these years passed, we all learned, to our greatest shock, that the man we were told was a monster, only pretended to be so- so that the world could live peacefully.

Surprisingly, Itachi did not kill his family on a whim. He killed them to save others!

The Uchiha sought to start a war with the village. A war which would risk the lives of innocent civilians.

And, even though he stood to benefit from this war, the man just couldn’t watch innocents die.

At the tender age of 14, Itachi decided to sacrifice his own brethrenhis own kin- for the sake of others.

He killed off his own family, not because he wanted to, but so that others could keep theirs.

He wept as he drew the sword against his own parents, hesitant to behead the ones he loved.

It hurt him. Every step he took, pained to his very core.

He was still a human. And he could only hide his emotions for so long.

And for that reason, he decided to let his little brother live on and despise him. He portrayed himself as a villain, so that Sasuke would never know that his parents planned a war.

He was happy to be the fall guy. Happy to become the villain, and let others live in peace because of it.

But make no mistake, Itachi did not think what he did was right.

Even though he was saving the village, he understood that what he’d done was unforgivable- it was still mass genocide.

When deciding whether to side with his clan, or the village, Itachi was placed between a rock and a hard place.

No matter what choice he’d made, it would have come at a heavy price.

He realized that he’d led a tragic life, and made several mistakes. But he was happy.

Happy that through his tragedy, he’d somehow made the village a safer place- and other lives easier in the process.

It’s like Obito said:

He accepted disgrace in the place of honor, and hatred in the place of love. And yet, Itachi still died with a smile on his face.

This, I believe, is why Itachi is so loved.

Itachi was the perfect combination of wise, selfless, and flawed.

He embodied the best traits of love and humility, yet realized his own shortcomings and imperfections

Itachi’s selfless love, and philosophical foresight, are what make him an intriguing character.

His ninjutsu, intelligence, and genjutsu skills, only bolster that.

This canvas was made by me, once I finished shippuden episode around 150.

Surpassing Naruto, Jiraya and Kakashi, Uchiha Itachi bacame my favorite character. Earlier, he was just a traitor, a mean Uchiha who destroyed his clan, who killed his parents, just for the sake of power. A traitor who combined with Madara(Obito), to destroy his clan. But, later a Shinobi who was taking a burden of whole Konoha village. A shinobi who, for the sake of village, destroyed his entire clan, killed his own parents(his hand were trembling). A brother, for well-being of Sasuke, carried away burden of being called a traitor.

Brother, a word which resemble elder/younger sibling who take care of the younger one. Itachi Uchiha gave another meaning to it. He really loved his brother and this was the reason he left Sasuke alive and killed every other Uchiha from the clan. To ensure his brother, gets strong enough to take command of Uchiha, he feed Sasuke with all the hatred, enough to make Sasuke to kill him. To awaken Mangeyou Sharingan in Sasuke, so he would be strong enough to kill Itachi, become a hero who killed a rogue ninja and restore the Uchiha clan. He purposely plans his death by the hands of his own brother, and gift him Eternal Mangekyou Sharingan. He freed Sasuke from curse of Orachimaru, and planted Amaterasu to protect him from Tobi. When Lord third dies, he came back to village to make Danzo realise of his existence.

Sacrifices, what sacrifices can you offer? Can you kill your parents? Can you slaughter you mates? Can you sacrifice your life for your village, your brother? Itachi himself was a vessel of sacrifices. He was born a prodigy, who could have earned a title as hokage, but still he went on to be a rogue ninja. He sacrificed his family and his clan to protect his village. The sacrifice he offered were unable to be comprehended by anyone else, think of the pain he suffered in slaughtering his clan members, his family. To ensure his village is safe, he joined Akatsuki to make an Intel on it.

I made this drawing, once I finished Naruto Shippuden.

What do you mean by a word called Genius? At the age of 7 he graduated from academy, he became chunin at the age of 10, at 13 he surpassed most of the Anbu . His Genjutsu was not even matched by Kurenai, or Kakashi. He haad endless knowledge of jutsu. Even Orachimaru, the legendary sanin, was caught in his jutsu. Even Kishimoto once said that, if Itachi was to fight with Madara, he would have returned undefeated. Moreover, he broke the reanimated jutsu of Kabuto.

And, I think this is more than enough to believe why Uchiha Itachi is so great, and also why he is favorite of almost all the Naruto fans, an even the writer Kishimoto.

Itachi was the true Ninja, who served hidden leaf village(I can say world ) after Death also by playing vital role in fourth grate ninja war(breaking Reanimation jutsu ).

Below quality makes him Great Ninja

  • In very small age he started serving hidden leaf village.
  • Also in small age he joined Anbu group
  • He cleaned Uchiha clan over night (even his family) to save world.
  • His Sharingan and Susanoo
  • Joined Akatsuki group as a spy.
  • Thinking like hokage
  • Making Sasuke powerful (telling your weak, dont have hatred, etc)
  • Breaking Reanimation jutsu of kabuto and holding him back.

These are his few things which makes him great.
